Issey Miyake

In the canon of great Japanese designers, Issey Miyake is perhaps its foremost technician as well as one of the most expressive textile artists to ever live. Since 1971, Miyake has explored concepts of apparel the way no one else can, championing "the body, the fabric covering it and a comfortable relationship between the two." Constantly innovating new techniques, Miyake is perhaps most famous for virtuoso heat-pressed pleating, although each of the many lines within the world of Miyake offer equally revolutionary approaches to production and design.
