Designer Mona Kowalska, originally from Warsaw, Poland, born 1964. Designed for various small labels in Italy and briefly ran Sonia Rykiel's Paris design studio. Launched own label in 1998, opening her shop on Mott Street in New York. Architectural yet sexy, described by one critic as "activewear for girls who read".
