how do these fit? i have a wide-ish size 8, but can sometimes fit into a 7.5 if they'll stretch or 8.5 if they run narrow...thanks!

I am a 7.5 euro 38. They are narrow but I found them TTS. I first ordered an 8 since I thought they'd be narrow and having a wider foot I'd want more room but I was wrong. I had to order a 7.5 instead. So I'd say TTS for length.

Anya, I agree with Jennifer in that they are running true to size in length. However, Rachel Comey in general tends to be a little more on the narrow side of a fit. The leather is pretty soft and could be easily stretched in width if need be. So if you are wide-ish and plan to wear them with a light to no sock then I recommend ordering true to size. If you style with a heavier sock or tight then I would probably try a 1/2 size larger.

how do you treat the wooden heels before wearing them out?

Susan, that's a great question. To be honest with you, I haven't heard of anyone having to treat the wooden heel. The wood will darken over time to richer shade. I've seen a few pairs from friends that purchased them last year and wore them through our rainy season in Seattle and they look great (even better). It wouldn't hurt to take them to a shoe cobbler and see whether they would recommend something to protect the wood. I got myself a pair and haven't treated the wood. I'm actually looking forward for the boots to acquire the 'wore in look'! :)

Can you please describe the differences between the Mars and the Penpal? Also, if I took a 7.5 in the Petra, will a 7.5 work in the Mars or the Penpal? Thank you.

Hi Megan! Compared with the Mars Boot, the Penpal features a 1 1/4" inch higher shaft with a curved top line and a leather pull tab at back. Both heel heights measure 3" inches. They're equally amazing! Typically a size 7 in most shoes, I sized up to 7.5 in the Petra due to the narrowness. I tried both the Mars and Penpal boots on and found size 7 to be a perfect fit.

I would recommend signing up for the 'Email Me If My Size Becomes Available' option, if your size is currently sold out. I know I'm signed up for mine!

Kristen. Hi! I'm so sorry, but at this time we do not have a time frame for the arrival of these guys. The best way to be notified is to sign up with our 'Email Me if My Size Becomes Available' feature. In the meantime, a great alternative is the Isabel Marant Dicker boot in Cognac!
