Kenyan-born designer Jas Sehmbi moved to India at age four, finally settling in England in 1970. Studied art at East Ham College, Stratford. Began retailing, then designing, small leather and canvas bags, opening first retail shop in Ilford, 1985. Inspired by music, developed first ever DJ bag. Launched Jas MB label in 2000, focusing on handmade leather bags with attention to detail, quality and workmanship. Has collaborated with artists and designers such as Louis Vuitton Japan, Simeon Farrar and Katharine Hamnett.
